239. A perfect day for hanami 2 / Inada thatched hut
Also visited a temple called Sainen-ji, associated with Shinran priest (the founder of Shin-sect *1).
This is the temple built at the very place called "Inada thatched hut" from where he preached his teachings *2 to the east provinces for 20 years, after the pardon of his exile to the Echigo province.
He compiled the volume of Kyougyou Shinshou (teaching, practicing, realizing the pure land) at this place. On editing these volumes, it is said that he frequently visited Kashima Shrine on the Pacific coast which housed many Buddhist scriptures and sutras.

He taught that a sincere call on the name of Amida is all sufficient for salvation, all are equal before Buddha, high or low, male or female, completely different from the established monasteries.
238. A perfect day for hanami / a cherry tree
At this time of year, cherry trees, here and there, come to my mind.
A cherry tree, long drooping-branch variety, at a small shrine in Kasama is one of them.
I visited there. Full bloom as in the photo.

237. The National Stadium
On the way back from the flower viewing, I stopped in at the new National Stadium.
A glance through a car window indicated its sides being considerably wider than before.
As the works of Mr. Kuma have been amusing in many respects, I want to see the final configuration of the stadium.

236. Already started blooming
Upon opening the shutters this morning, I noticed tulips are almost going to bloom.
As the rainy days continued, I had not realized their growth. It seems to be much earlier than usual.

235. ISAS L-4S Nr.5 vs SS-520 Nr.5
The photo is the launcher of Lambda 4S rocket which put the first satellite here into orbit, exhibited at the outside of Science Museum in Ueno. It was taken 3 years ago. If I remember correctly, it is of Sumitomo Heavy Industries make. It is sad this type of thing is exhibited in weather-beaten condition.
The reason I brought up this old photo is that the success of the sounding rocket SS-520 Nr.5 in the beginning of this month reminded me of the Lambda 4S rocket.
L-4S Nr. 5 was lalunched in Feb. 1970, a story of already 48 years ago. That day, I took a day-off and watched the TV live cast. It also relayed the telemetry data indicating the acceleration to the speed which was markedly different from those of the last failures. So I was convinced of the sucess before its return after the 1st round.

Even if the satellite this time is so small, 3U weighing 3 kg, how could such a tiny rocket put it into the orbit? ISAS got the bare possiblity by calculation and proved it. The numerical calculation is indeed great.
While in the newspaper, etc., there was no mention of the comparison between the SS-520 Nr.5 and L-4S N.5.
I had no choice but to make it myself, I took the screen shot of SS-520 data in ISAS site and put L-4S data beside the shot.
Those data at the right outside the column are for L-4S.
The weight of SS-520 is only about 1/4 that ot L-4S.

234. ABE-no-Seimei birthplace
The music used by the Olympic figure skater Hanyu is said to be from the soundtrack of a theatrical version of "Onmyouji" (Yin Yang cosmology study group in the 10th century), a series of novels written by YUMEMAKURA Baku.
The Onmyouji, ABE no Seimei, reminds me of the place at Makabe said to be the birthplace of Seimei, where I visited at close to the autumn dusk several years back. Whereas there are several places proclaimed to be his birthplace, like Abe-no-ku of Osaka, Kyoto and others at Kansai region, in Kantou, this looks like an only location.
That day, myself and xyl were on our way home from Kakioka where the Geomagnetism Observatory exists. We were to traverse as usual Mt. Tsukuba and to come down to Science City, however by some reason, it seems I took a wrong way and came down to the town of Makabe, way to the north. There I found a signboard saying, the birthplace of ABE no Seimei, and I asked about that location at a nearby shop. The shop owner told me that the place is in the precinct of a private home, and that it happened to be her relative's home. She strongly recomended us to visit there.
Though it was late afternoon, we accepted that kind offer and visited the home. The headmaster of the house readily guided us to a well which water was used for Seimei's first bath and a shrine dedicated to him. The photo is taken at that time.
That day, we went that place, as if we were drawn into there by something unknown. This type of thing can happen.

Snow came as in the weather forecast.

232. Old home of "Doramu"
The photo is "Doramu-kun/mascot of Sakae town, posted on the wall of the town's "Fudoki-no-oka" (a hill commemorating ancient records of the region's topography) information office. This unfamiliar name is a creation combining a dragon associated with the town and the word of yume/mu (dream).
Though I have an aversion to "long creatures", this design is quite OK. The folklore behind the dragon is here.

231. A shrine in old folklore
This is a renewed shinto shrine at Daikata of Narita.
Though there is another one with the same name in the street of Sakura, this shrine nestles in the woods which atmosphere reminds us of old folklore.

230. Dog lead hook
In recent times, dog lead hooks are available in most places and very helpful to us.
This is a nice hook recently intalled at Inage shore.
Jiro is 12 years old in September this year/dog year, and is a "tosi-otoko" (man of the year).
